Hello!

I just had an idea for a feature I would find useful: What if you could have bundles of context, in which one top level context could contain several sub level contexts?

To elaborate: I use thinking rock mainly in two places, at work and at home. There are several contexts that I can use at both places (like telephone, online, send mail, any computer), but also some that I can only use in one place (my flat, my office, the computer at work, the computer at home, speak to the boss and so on).

I have noticed that whenever I fiddle with the action screens, I always use three unchanging combinations of contexts: "At work" (which includes all "anywhere with an infrastructure" contexts and all "work only" contexts), "at home" (which includes all "anywhere with an infrastructure" contexts and all "home only" contexts) and "on the road".

Up until now, I have to assign each and every single context separately in every action screen. It would be much easier if there was some place where I could say "'At work' means those ten contexts", "'At home' means those eight" and so on. Then, on the action screens, I would just have to say "This is an 'At work' screen". And if I build action screens where these bundles of contexts do not fit, I still could work with the contexts themselves as I do now.

What do you think?

Best wishes
Kai

You can already do that by adding an action screen for each of your unique selection of contexts.

For example, add an 'At Work' action screen, then go to the filter criteria for context and select multiple, then go to edit multiple and add the contexts for 'At Work'

Yeah, I know that. I can generate all the screens I like according to my wishes. It just is not practical to do so. Here's why:

I use multiple action screen for each location, like "Due today", "This week", "All Do Asap actions ordered by context, time and priority", "All Do Asap actions ordered by Created Date", "Work topic actions only", "Work and private actions that I can do at work" - whichever list I have found useful to keep productivity high (and not leave the impression that I got a To Do list full of private items up at work).

So, if I want to reconfigure something - like when the web is down and I might as well take all "Do Online" tasks off the list for now - , I have to do it on a whole lot of action screens. Which simply takes time I wouldn't have to use if there was the requested bunch feature.

Best wishes
Kai

Hi Kai,

This (or something very similar) was requested also in another thread:

There are some possible workarounds but, as you, I would find the possibility of bundling contexts and associating them to a single action very useful.
