I confirm - SomeDay / Maybe and Future projects are two different things.
Future projects concept is good and for many users is very useful.

For me - sorry - is not. I dont use goals, and my top projects are Areas of responsibility, and there I have many and many sub and sub-sub-projects. Its not the pure GTD - where all projects have same level - but it helps to get better perpective. I have the same structure in Projects and Future projects. But its not very comfort to find the same place and switch Projects between them. And my projects changes the status Active/Inactive Current/Future very quickly. Therefore I have many inactive projects between Current projects.

And the automatic move from Future to Current projects goes only from top level to top level.

For weekly review I should review all projects - its OK. But between W. reviews I need quick review - only active projects. And that I have not.

Please, please, please - when can we expected this functionality?

(I know - other very expected functions are Calendar view, Gantt view, Multiuser, Android version, etc....)

My best wishes to thinking rock development team.

For me when you have done some actions or some planning already, it is not a someday/maybe anymore. So I will cut and paste the project from the current projects tab to the future projects tab. And if you want to be reminded of it in 4 months time, set the (now) future project start date to today + 4 months. It will then re-appear in your current projects tab, just in time for you next projects review.

Really ?

You may have just answered (6 days ago) the question I asked this morning.

So the start date is what triggers the project to jump from future to now? Is there a color code to the folder that we set with that change so that new folders will jump out at me?

Experiment 1) Epic Fail
I do not have "start date" enabled on projects or actions

Experiment 2) Setup
Went to Tools | Options | Project
and Tools | Options | Actions
and selected "Include Start Date Field"
Set Project "Future Project - Resurface on the 12th" and
Action "Future Action - Resurface on the 12th"
to have start dates of tomorrow.
Results [Will have to wait till tomorrow]

At some point I thought "what if you change the time zone, then you can have the system change the date and see what happens" Sure enough, worked fine.

So ....

Experiment 2 was a success.
Both the action and the project appeared on the active list.

Experiment 3
Project to start on the 11th
Action to start on the 12th

(Clair, is this mentioned anywhere in the documentation? It's an awesome feature even with the little bit that I've experimented with)

I was aware of the "start" date on projects - but stumbled upon it by accident.

As for "visual" colour trigger...I have a context that is "pending review" - it's a wild colour scheme - so anything in "future" gets this context. Then when the start date triggers it, the project hits your current project list, but the colours driven from the context, stand out as best as you can. So for daily/weekly review, they stick out. You can then re-context the project level event to proper context.

Did you mean a "Topic", because when I edit a context I can't change the color at all. Either way, thank you for the input, because that will probably solve my problem once I figure out how to make it work.

My issue with changing the Topic's color is that it's not changing the color of anything.

Now the lack of color could be because of my funky drop box set up.

I'm going to have to spend some time putting screen shots together, but right now, the only place the special (background only) color change is showing up is on the drop down list for picking a Topic.

I know that in the past if I changed the colors, it would show up in the project list, but not for me today.
