I have been a dedicated user of TR for years. I recently decided to switch to a cloud based solution and tried quite a few offerings, before deciding that TR is STILL the best GTD app on the planet - bar none.

However...TR has a massive limitation in that it is stuck on the desktop. Yes, there are Android and Apple apps, but they are no good for us BlackBerry users. So it seems to me, developing a cloud-based version of TR should be a high priority. In this way, it can be platform agnostic and usable on any current or device.

Despite the fact that I have returned to TR for now, the writing is very clearly on the wall that desktop-only apps are heading for the graveyard. The competition is still behind - but not by much! Are there any plans for a cloud version?

Just to add support for you to explore of cloud based thinking rock. I resisted the cloud for a long time but have been fully colonised by google now, and TR is the only thing I now have to remember to manually sync between devices...
I can though imagine that this would be a major leap for the application, so please don't get distracted from v2.0 of the android app! Really hope it frees me from doubling up task entry with GTasks for on the fly task management.

I question whether a cloud-based version is the proper way to go with a small development team. No question there is a terrific need for such a thing... a cloud-based GTD system that really gets the fundamentals of GTD right. However, I don't think there is a very large market at this point for people who really need GTD done right. Most of the emphasis on GTD apps in the cloud seems to be in user interface (important) and connectivity to other cloud systems (also important), and it's just a shame that they didn't start with the true core of GTD as their basis of their design.

I think the best mobile strategy at this point would be to making the Android/iPhone companions as good as possible rather than embarking on an entirely new platform. It will be easier to compete with Things and Omnifocus, which only exist for Apple devices, than with the tens of establish cloud-based systems already on the market.

I would prefer a full iOS client instead of a cloud version. In my opinionen cloud services have a big issue with data security and my confidential data are in my TR file I am not quite sure if I would use the cloud version.
