<bump>
Ubuntu 9.10 LTS / TR 3.1.2
I did have TR 3.0.3 working on this computer and have been upgraded it.
I've installed it twice. Once as my own user ID into my Home directory (which I have access to) and Once as sudo into /usr/local/.
It copies the files, sets up the icons on the Applications menu and all looks hunky dorey. When executing the application from the application menu, nothing happens. Going to the <install directory>/tr/bin (where install directory has been both /home/paul and /usr/local) and manually executing the tr program using "./tr" results in the message:
Cannot find java. Please use the --jdkhome switch.
I've googled this and it seems to be a Netbeans thing. So I installed Netbeans from the Ubuntu repository. Unfortunately that's had no effect.
Typing "which java" results in:
/usr/bin/java
typing "java -version" results in:
java version "1.6.0_18"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.8) (6b18-1.8-0ubuntu1)
OpenJDK Client VM (build 14.0-b16, mixed mode, sharing)
(The "standard" Java install from the Ubuntu repository)
I can't find a .nbi folder in my home directory, but did find a .netbeans folder, which doesn't contain a log file, just a file call .superId.
Hope this provides a little more debugging info. Let me know if you need anything else.
And can I just say that you guys do a splendid job on this product, I use it everyday.
Many Thanks,
Paul
