1) I'm using wi-fi sync.
This bug works in 100% in my case.
I attach the screen on iPhone as it finishes sync. You can see the progress bar on ref items does not reaches the end a little bit - maybe that matters.
Dropbox sync is not an option since there could be sensitive data in TR and dropbox security is known to be weak.
In general TR sync is not convenient - cos I have to do 3 things:
1.start sync on desktop app
2.run sync from iPhone
3.and the worst thing is that one have to do 1 and 2 above at the same time
Hi Sergi,
We've discovered a bug this week where problems can occur if a action/project/reference item gets over 5kb in size. Seems this can occur for projects and reference items more often than we'd imagined. I have a fix ready to go for this which is being tested right now.
2) I like the idea when I can at least make points 1 and 2 independent. For instance I upload from iPhone my thoughts and other sync data to a webDav or sftp resource and then at any time TR desktop app can get that data to a desktop applicaiton.
Maybe dropbox works this way - haven't tried it cos of security issues.
I would recommend taking a look at GoodReader for iPhone app. It really rocks in all ways: how it does syncronization, the way navigation in folders is implemented and so on.
Its a bit trickier than it seems when you get users using multiple computers and/or multiple devices. We've considered adding an encryption layer but the app store terms of reference get a bit hard at that point. That's not to say we won't look at it again.
3) I would say that displaying reference items and projects in plain tree list is very inconvenient. I have like 100 projects and about the same number or reference items. I think that display should be similar to folders. For projects grouping is natural since projects have parent projects and for reference items those could be grouped by topic. Then tapping on project will bring you to the level of child projects and tapping on topic for reference will bring you to all ref items with that topic.
Fair criticism. We're looking at it for the next version.
4) Also a note on landscape display for new screens - projects and reference items. It does not work like other screens. When you change the scree orientation to landscape on the top level of the app and the enter a projects or ref items screen - you have those screens in landscape BUT if you enter project and ref items screen from portrait view on the top application level you can not change to landscape inside projects or ref screen. Other screens can switch between portrait and landscape views. This should be the same for all screens.
Thanks. I hadn't noticed this issue before. Agree that all screens should work in any orientation. I'll look into a fix for the next version.
Regards,
Sergei.
