Hello,
after evaluating several GTD-Tools I'm now using ThinkingRock. And I like it since ThinkingRock is the most advanced GTD-Tool I've found.
But there is one problem. I'm mostly working at home and I use a network of three computers simultaneously. ThinkingRock is installed on all three computers. But as I found out ThinkingRock cannot be used simultaneously on all computers. The data file would not be concurrent/not in sync for all computers.
If I'm right, I've read somewhere on the TR website that there is an ongoing development for a network or client/server edition of ThinkingRock. Is that correct?
I've an idea for a workaround for this problem by using a special bash shell script (I'm using ThinkingRock on Linux systems). The data file is stored on a NFS server. That means, the file path for the TR data file is the same on all computers. Lets assume TR is currently running on one computer but I'm working at another computer. And I want to use TR on that computer. I would like to have a shell script that does:
1) Log in to computer A using a Secure Shell with predefined password.
2) Find out if TR is running on that computer.
3) If TR is not running on that computer logout from that computer.
4) Log in to computer B.
5) Find out if TR is running on that computer.
6) If TR is running on that computer save the data and exit TR.
7) Logout from that computer.
8) Start TR on computer C.
This script could be installed on all three computers (configured for that computer).
Well, I don't know if such a workaround would work or if there are any other solutions. And unfortunately, I'm not able to develop such a script. I don't have that knowledge.
Is there somebody who can help?
Best regards,
Gerold
