We have been looking at implementing a reminder functionality. We would like to have your opinion on how you would like it to work.

1. Do you want it on the desktop or on a mobile platform?
2. If desktop, we looked at using something like Growl but although there is a window version, there is probably no Linux one. Any other idea on what we could use? Or on desktop we could send a reminder by email. Most users get notified when a new email arrives (so disruptive for your productivity).
3. Mobile platform: we looked briefly as sending text message but that seems fairly expensive, especially if we want to send a reminder for every meeting coming up on a day. So the alternative could be to send an email which summarise the actions for the day but then you have your day view on the iPhone app which has all the details.

Let us know your thoughts but seems like an email to start with will work for both desktop and mobile.

Would you want one email by schedule action 15 minutes prior starting time (global setting for all actions) and one email per day with Do ASAP and Delegated for that day?

Hi Claire,

Reminder would be great especially on the iPhone / iPad with the builtin push notification.
For me, I would not use Emails for this use case, because normally I try to screen Emails twice a day.
In the Mac version i would prefer the builtin notification center within windows I donnot have an idea.

One more idea to reminder, it would be great to set a reminder to a special location (e.g. supermarket).

And as a new functionality, I would like to tag my tasks in addition to topics and context ;)

keep on doing a good job on thinking rock

I need to use a GTD software on a desktop without internet, and with Windows.
The actual solution of syncronizing TR with a PIM through iCal seems better - for me - that using reminders with email or Growl.
But I was hoping in a reminder integrated in TR (desktop reminder) with the functionalities at the same level that a lot of PIMs have.

I'd like to see reminder functionality too, especially on my android. I don't know how things work... but gTasks app does a nice pop up on the phone, with a snooze button, which you can set to go off at specific time during the day: that'd be nice.

i write a real long text with thoughts i had but in the end, then i wanted to post it the forum dont gave me writeaccess, then i gone back my text was gone :(((((

So i try to make it short:

WE NEED A WIDGET FOR ANDROID !!!

if you ask me, it is state of art to provide a widget, that gives us instantaccess/overwiev

the reminderfunction should be combined with that widget and it should be possible to open calendar, action lists, etc by clicking on the region of the widget.
