If your inactive actions have a start date of today, they will become Do ASAP automatically and then appear on the Today Calendar view.

I'll describe the case once again - cos the anwer is not relevant.
I work on an action two days - today and tomorrow. I make Inactive action with start date = Today (2-SEP) and Due date = Tomorrow (3-SEP).
On regular Actions screen (Ctrl + Shift + A) with a filter set to show Action date = Today I do see my Inactive action both on the 2-SEP and on the 3-SEP as well.
On the Day view (Ctrl+Shift+6) I do not see my action on the 2-SEP.
It is logical that both views should work the same and I see action when it's inactive on the 2-SEP and ASAP on the 3-SEP. Simple.
What you say is not relevant cos inactive will only become ASAP on the 3-SEP and on the 2-SEP I will not see the action on the Day view.

On the Review Actions Today tab, is the action an Inactive or Do ASAP one? If it starts Today, it should be Do ASAP and thus appear on the Calendar view under Do ASAP starting.

On the Review Actions Today tab, is the action an Inactive or Do ASAP one?
Please follow the example below to get the answer.
Start Date = 2-SEP
Due Date = 3-SEP
>> in the below two rows is the answer to the question above:
On the 2-SEP the Status = Inactive.
On the 3-SEP the Status will be Do ASAP
On the 2-SEP the action is visible On Regular Actions screen (Ctrl + Shift + A) but NOT VISIBLE on On the Day view (Ctrl+Shift+6).
On the 3-SEP the action is visible on both screens.
Regular Actions screen and Day view have different logic. That is confusing and wrong.

The inactive action should become a Do ASAP one on the start date, not after.

The inactive action should become a Do ASAP one on the start date, not after.
The inactive action becomes Do ASAP ONLY when on Start Date + 1.
And this is OK. The problem is in Day View that it does not show inactive actions.
