We are now starting our membership scheme. If you have donated in the past, you will receive an email with a coupon entitling you for a free subscription.

We will send another email to all forum users with a coupon giving 25% discount on the plan of your choice. This coupon will only be valid until end of November 2008. You can share that coupon with family members, friends, colleagues, etc..

By becoming a member you are supporting the development to make ThinkingRock a better product.

Membership benefits are:
- latest functionality;
- beta versions;
- first priority support;
- participation in functionality decisions;
- significant discounts on external applications peripheral to ThinkingRock: being considered at the moment are a cut-down version of ThinkingRock for iPhone and one for Blackberry or Nokia N810;
- shared project templates;
- support documentation.

There are 3 new modules for members ready to be downloaded:
- send your thoughts to a dedicated email address and import them into TR. Please note this functionality does not work if you have a proxy server;
- share your project templates by exporting and importing them;
- update on the Archiving function: option to archive done actions within current projects.

The new website is http://www.trgtd.com.au

Hi,

I just joined and downloaded the TR Email plug-in, which was my major motivation for signing up for the 2-year contract. How do I actually use the TR Email plug-in? There's no documentation and I have no idea how to make it work.

Thank you,

Stever

Did you look at the help files? You need to first set-it up. Go under Preferences (Mac) or Tools (windows and Linux), Options/Miscellaneous/Email. There is an help button. Then once set-up, use option Retrieve Email under the file menu. The help file for that function is under the Import section.

Hi, Claire,

Thank you for the pointer to the help file. I have Email set up and can now receive email through ThinkingRock. The documentation says that the body of my email message will become the "note" in the incoming thought.

That isn't happening. The subject line is becoming the thought, but the email body is NOT being imported at all, as far as I can tell.

Where is the best place to post a bug report? Is that an issue for the forums or should I do it directly in the member center on the main trgtd.com.au site?

Same problem here. The body of the mail is not being imported.

How does this membership scheme relate to those users (me included) who donated to the project in the past?

I believe there was mention at the time that if you donated, you would get any for-pay version for free in the future?

There is a new member forum on the web site which is the best place for support. I have also just created a new topic on this forum named Membership.

Re the Email problem, could you look at your email client and message to see what format is the body of the email is in? Maybe HTML or something else.

You first need to get the Member module for TR. This will then allow you to get the member modules.

Steps:
- start up TR application
- go to Tools, Plugins
- go to settings and make sure (create if necessary,) that you have an entry for the normal TR update center and it is checked as active. It should have the URL: http://www.trgtd.com.au/tr/updates/updates.xml
- go to the Installed tab and click Reload Catalog
- this should then list the Member module under the Updates tab
- install this module
- go to Preferences (Mac) / Tools, Options (Windows and other)
- go to Miscellaneous then Member Login
- enter your member username and password
- click Validate to make sure
- go back to the Tools, Plugins and Installed tab
- click Reload Catalog
- member modules should then be listed under the Updates tab
- install member modules

Hi, Jeremy. I'm using a gmail account as the POP account to receive the ThinkingRock items. I'm sending messages TO that account from everywhere--Gmail, Blackberry, Outlook, Jott, etc. For TR to get this right, it really needs to handle incoming HTML email because these days, we poor individual users may not have the ability to control what format the message is sent in (since it might be sent by third-party systems, etc.)

In my case, the email was plain text (no html).

I did some more tests and it always works OK when the e-mail is not signed with gnupg. If you sign your email, the body will not be present in TR.

Yes I agree it should work for any format and I will fix this ASAP.

I thought it was working for HTML. The reason I asked for the format was to see exactly what format it was - there are others such as RTF. This may save me from going on a goose chase.

Also it does not handle attachments (yet). So if the message is forwarded or otherwise included as an attachment it will not be output.

It does not handle encryption of messages (yet) - I will look into doing this.

Hi, Jeremy. If you send me your email address or a throwaway email address, I'll send a couple of messages to your address from GMAIL and from my Blackberry and you can take a look at what's coming through.

You can send your email address to me at: thinkingrock at SteverRobbins.com.
