I installed on an XP machine at work and got this running OK. Now also on XP, with Java 1.5.2_06 I can't get it running on a laptop.

When I start up the license page appears but there's nothing there.

If I click-drag across where the text should be, it then appears, and if I hit return the application starts up, but again fails to 'render'. Buttons appear when I hover where they should be, but I can't tell if I'm getting any further than that because nothing happens when I click on them. It's possible everything is OK except for 'rendering' but that's a pretty big obstacle to using the program!

Weird problem -- any idea what's wrong?

David

Hi David

There are problems with some Java implementations on laptops. I suggest that you get the latest Java runtime from Sun (http://java.com/en/download/).

That seems to have done it -- now have 1.5.0_8 installed. For reference it was at 1.5.0_6 before and it's a Dell laptop with Intel on-board video adapters.

Thanks

David

The latest Java Runtime is available from Sun´s main site. The Runtime available from Java.com is several updates older, strange enough.

On my Dell 500m laptop with running Win XP Pro SP2, I had already Java Runtime 1.5.0_07 when TR wouldn´t start properly (at all, in fact).

It was installed over a month ago and, yet, it was newer than the version offered att Java.com. At the same time Sun.com had an even newer than I had onboard.

Summary:
Was installed on laptop:J ava Runtime 1.5.0_07
Offered at Java.com: jre-1_5_0_06-windows-i586.xpi
Offeret at Sun.com: jdk-1_5_0_09-windows-i586-p.exe
