Hi Claire,

I face the same problem. TR RC4 also freze at the point as RC3 after Review > Action selection.

I sent my files which you requested from Guzz and answered the question via e-mail (contact mail in web site).

Hope that also helps you.

Regards,

For the last post, does it freeze as you call the Review Actions screen?

Hi Guzz. I was unable to reproduce the problem on Windows XP. I'll note the steps so you can see if I did something differently from you.

1.) Tools > Options > Action Screens > +
Created a new tab called "ASAPs"

2.) Revew > Actions > "ASAPs" tab

3.) Clicked "edit filters" icon and selected checkbox against "Status" and chose "Do ASAP" and OK.

4.) Went to single actions and pressed F3. This created a new action which defaulted to "Do ASAP"

5.) Changed the description of new action and changed to scheduled. Then I selected a start date.

6.) Then I clicked on another action in the top half of the screen without any problem.

yes, exactly. but i re-read my IDE log. java version is 1.5.0 even if my java is latest version 1.6. update 5. I began to think it is error on my part.

I have installed TR RC 4 to my desktop pc that has clean install of windows xp and java 1.6. It still has that problem. I have 143 organized thoughts that has "inactive" status right now.

I can send my trx file if you want after clearing some company related information from it.

I think it is more likely to be an installation problem than a data problem.

Could you rename the file ReviewActions.xml and start TR. Can you see the Review Actions screen? Can you then go to Tools/Options, Actions Screen and add a Tab (+ button). Make sure you type a new name and move out of the field. Then press OK. Any error? Do you see the new Tab in Review Actions screen?

Do you use non-English characters in your mother tongue?

Hi there,

I have the same problem here, running RC4 on XP with Java 1.5.0_05 (Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM 1.5.0_05-b05), German, but I have no special characters in my projects/actions so far.
On my old database (epsilon) and a newly created one - every time I want to switch to the Review Actions view, the application freezes completly (exit by task manager). Every thing else works, what I can tell so far...

In the same folder as your data file, after you exit (or kill) TR, does a ReviewActions.xml file get created?

I will also split the post as there are 2 problems talked about here: freezing when changing the status of an action (reported by Guzz) and the application freezing when accessing the Review Actions screen.

Dear Claire,

There was a ReviewActions.xml in my data folder, which I think was created when I tried out the options/insert tab-trick before. I renamed it but I still cannot enter the Review Actions screen.
The options/insert tab still works (no error) and a new ReviewActions.xml is created correctly and the new tab appears in the options view, but I still cannot enter the Review Actions screen (still freezing)...

2. Restared TR RC4
3. From top menu Review > Actions

Yes, I use some Turkish characters. windows-1254 and iso-8859-9 character set is valid for my windows xp settings.
note: i also deleted existing ReviewActions.xml file and re-do your suggestions. TR RC4 freezes again

You will need to use Java 1.6. Seems that the JAXB version doesn't want to play with the Java 1.5.
