Hi-

I just loaded 2.0 Epsilon for the first time today. I loaded it on my work computer running Windows 2000 and everything ran fine. Since it's the weekend I wanted to spend some time learning the program, I tried to load it onto my home machine running XP and it seems to install but when I open the program, I can't do anything. The only options available are editing ones. There is no file New Command. The Tool bar with the different functions is missing and there is no home page.

I made sure I had the correct Java environment. Is there anything else I'm missing?

Thanks

Barry

Sometimes you need to set the Java implementation in the config file:

edit the <install_dir>\etc\thinkingrock.conf file and change the line:

#jdkhome="/path/to/jdk"

to the correct path e.g.

jdkhome="C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_2"

Hi-

I changed the pointer but it didn't work. Any other ideas?

Make absolutely sure the path is correct and is the top level of your Java install, as in the example.

Also, remove the .thinkingrock folder from your "Application Data" folder (if one exists).

If still no go. Can you run the thinkingrock_w.exe (instead of thinkingrock.exe) and see what messages are displayed in the command window.

Comparing the log files of the the two installs I have, the install that doesn't work seems to stall while loading modules. only the netbean modules seem to load none of the others.

In the good install, there is a line that says DataLookup.setData This sequence doesn't happen in the bad install.

Does this help?

Which version of Java are you using?

I was forced to use JDK 1.6.14 because the NetBeans 6.5 default (JDK 1.6) produced a banch of exceptions.
