Hello,

I have used TR for several weeks now, and currently I cannot access my data anymore.
Since I upgraded to hardy, batik seems to be missing, I could only find a source package for it which I was unable to compile. TR starts but there are no UI items apart from menu and shortcut bar.

I made a fresh gutsy install in a virtual machine to try it there, but things are even worse: the first uncaught exceptions I see there are null pointer dereference and a "sealing exception", if I remember correctly. TR just hangs in the splash screen.

Please, someone help me out of here! Priority one would be to get me access to my data again. I painfully made the experience WHY it's called a trusted system...

Is it any of these problems:

In short, no.

I looked at all of these threads beforehand.
I do NOT have compiz enabled, I have sun-java 6 and not 5 (at least on hardy), I do not see any permission denied's nor lock file problems.

I can post the terminal output (on gutsy it's VERY long) here as soon as I'm at home.

Argh. It works now on hardy, and I didn't change anything (I don't remember whether I did some package upgrades, hardy is still moving rapidly these days). I hate that because it makes me look like an idiot...

I also realized that batik is not missing because it's shipped with TR.

Below is a (reduced) transcript on gutsy, for completeness.

Here it stops and I have to hit ^C.

NB phpBB's syntax rules are not really good for posting logs ^^

Ok. One thing I noticed in the log, TR is using a Java 1.5 version on your system.

To change this edit the TR config file:
<install_dir>/etc/thinkingrock.conf file and change the line:

#jdkhome="/path/to/jdk"

remove the # and set the Java path, e.g.

jdkhome="/opt/java/jre1.6.0_01"

Fine. I installed sun-java6 and it works now in Gutsy as well.
Neither sun-java5 nor 6 was installed...

Thanks and sorry for the "false alarm",
Thomas
