I have both epsilon and RC1 versions installed. I have created a copy of my original data file and renamed it. The problem is that *both* versions are referencing the *same* most recently opened data file. So if I open MyGTD.trx with TR2e, and then close it, TR2RC1 will also open MyGTD.trx. If I then manually open NMyGTD.trx with TR2RC1 and close it and then open TR2e, it will also try to open NMyGTD.trx.

Sometimes when TR2e opens a new verison file I get an error message, somethimes it seems to open it.

There is real danger of confusion here swapping between the 2 versions.

Is it possible to specify the data file to open via the icon properties? I have tried the obvious, specifying the data pathname in the properties Target field to no avail.

This is on PC running XP

I think there is something in this swapping between versions that is causing me to lose the Actions screen lists but I'm not sure why.

Aargh!! I just had the same thing happen. I saved a backup of my epsilon data to another directory. Tested with 2.0 on my "main" data. Then I did my real work on my real data (now in a backup directory.)

Then, I thought I'd spend a few more minutes beta testing 2.0. And it by default opened the last file I'd worked on, my only backup of my real data.

So I guess 2.0 will now HAVE to be where I do my real work, instead of a testing platform, because I have lost my original data files.

Maybe we should store the TR version # in the data file and check it upon opening and give the user the option to cancel if the data file version does not match the version of TR that is doing the opening.

When I make backups of my TR data file I always create a zip file for the backup. I also append the date to the filename in the format YYYYMMDDHHMM where hour is in 24hour format so that the filenames sort correctly.

As you continue to use the release candidate, you should make these backups often, probably daily as a minimum.

Will do for the next version as they should not be another release of 2.0 until the final.

Please ensure you make a backup file before you start using the candidate version. If you are swapping between the 2 versions, open your test data file before exiting. That way, the candidate version will not touch your real data file.

ianandrach, avoid using the reprocess function. Not sure if it does not corrupt the action being reprocessed. A new version will be released soon (Sunday or Monday) - I know I said there will be none but Jeremy prefers to give you guys another shot at it.

This has been changed in Release Candidate 2. See http://www.thinkingrock.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1931.
