Folks, I am finding a lot of value in the approach to 'getting things done' you have created. thank you!

Here are a string of one-liners, no particular order, that you might consider for future versions. Please let me know if you need amplification.

(...and now I can remove this action from my lists...)

David

be able to change column order in Action view
automatic pencil mode in notes boxes when opening window
ability to 'complete' actions in Project view via right click and/or pull down in Status
allow double-click word selection in Notes
return to 'pencil mode' when leaving and then returning to screen, cursor left in place
double click in notes box to place pencil cursor at point of double click
email sent from 'tickler' reminders to self (or other designate, delegate) at 'due' date
Date box to include days in following month,
maybe 'waiting for' list
ability to paste a graphic in brainstorming box from e.g., mind-mapping or scan input
filter Project display by topic
Moveable window separators in Actions page (big brainstorm, little Vision etc.)

Thanks for this list.

You will be happy to read that the following suggestions are already included in 2.0 final (pre-release coming shortly):

- be able to change column order in Action view
- allow double-click word selection in Notes
- double click in notes box to place pencil cursor at point of double click
- Date box to include days in following month,

The following ones are planned for the release after (2.1 in Mantis):
- ability to 'complete' actions in Project view via right click and/or pull down in Status
- filter Project display by topic.

Could you expand on 'Moveable window separators in Actions page (big brainstorm, little Vision etc.)'. Just to let you know: for the action and project panels, if you double click on the action/project tab label, it will become full screen. Double click returns to previous view.

I have added the other suggestions to our list.

Claire, et alia, thanks for the feedback -- with many wishes soon to come true.

Thanks also for the hint of the double click to 'aggrandize' the Action or Project window.

My notion was motivated by the fact that my brainstorms are big, but my visions, sense of purpose, and misc. notes are small -- and I often wish that I could just mouse and pull the top or bottom edge of the Brainstorming window to open it up, at the expense of the other windows. It does help to double click, but not _so_ much because my brainstorms tend to be a collection of short phrases, and double clicking mostly makes the window wider.

This may just be the way I am (ab)using the principles of GTD, but I hope you now see what I dream of and why.

thanks

David

As you use brainstorming a lot, I might ask your opinion about a change we were thinking of (after 2.0 final).

I wanted to introduce a new type of action: brainstorming ideas. They will be entered under a special sub-project called 'brainstorming'. The reason is that I would like to be able to reprocess brainstorming ideas individually, some converted to action easier (than copy and paste a text), some marked as ignored. Also on process thoughts, you will be able to categorise some thoughts as brainstorming ideas.

Let me know if you think it is a good idea.

Claire, I think this would fit me well. So at least one vote of encouragement.

That sounds like it could be an interesting and useful feature.

What about using Future and/or Info for these? I guess I am more minimalist and would prefer to not evolve TR too far away from GTD. I think there is enough to do to strengthen the GTD usefulness (like improved recurrence, bidirectional ics, etc.) than to add things outside the box at this time.

Hi Claire

as you are thinking about a new way to handle brainstorming sessions, i thought of a possible concept to maybe add in parallel?

Would it in any way be possible to introduce a concept to (type or preferably) import (or copy paste) text and then to highlight sections of it and then change highlighted text into an added action (or thought).
This way a parallel to brainstorming could be added, to bring in information to process from wherever and while reading it, highlight and extract possible ideas for action/thought creation?

thanks for your consideration

I support both Claire and Moonlander's ideas.

Moonlander's idea could be extended to leave a tint behind so it would be clear which words had been converted into actions.

Looking forward to seeing the TR 2 brain-storming boxes.
