I have just Downloaded and installed TR2. I am running it on WinXP with the Java version 1.6.

Each time i fire up TR2 it loads fine but then when I try and create a Data file or Open my current data file I get an Unexpected Exception Pop up with the following text.

A java.lang.NullPointerException exception has occurred.
Click Show Details or see the messages.log file located in your C:\Documents and Settings\mcleanc\Application Data\.thinkingrock\dev\var\log folder.

Can anyone help me with what is going wrong?

Can you show me the whole error message or the contents of
C:\Documents and Settings\mcleanc\Application Data\.thinkingrock\dev\var\log\messages.log

If the file is large, just the part after the java.lang.NullPointerException

I wouldn't have a clue - but I am going to post this on the NetBeans forum to see if anyone knows.

Thanks. I have tried reinstalling it a few different times.Once on a key fob. Once in a sandbox. Then finally in Programs and each time I get the same thing.

I appreciate your efforts.

I have had a response (see http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bu ... id=6210674
http://www.netbeans.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=61438
). I am not sure of the answer (and I have had a few beers) but if it looks like an upgrade to Java 1.6 might fix it. I will have another look in the morning - its 12:43am already

Have you been playing with your system and icons much?

I use to have a skinning app running on my machine but I removed it a few months ago because I was waiting for a HD upgrade and was getting low on space.

All I can suggest right now is to install the latest Java 1.6 (java.sun.com) if you don't already have it. Let me know if you still have probs.

Don't sweat it.

I upgraded across the board all of my java stuff and still no dice.

Oh well guess I will wait a little longer. Thank you for your efforts.

I re applied the Classic theme in XP's Window's Display Properties and then launched TR2 again and it is now working.

Thanks Jeremy and to clubkid32.
