Jeremy,

I downloaded the beta and upgraded per your instructions. My data seems to be fine. However, I have two problems so far:

1. Every time I open TR, I get a message that version 1.2.1 is available (as a "new" version). Minor, but annoying.

2. I still cannot get a report, but now the problem is different. The first time I tried to get a report, Preview opened and then quit without showing the report. I got the "The application Preview quit unexpectedly" error message. Every time I tried to get a report after that, Preview would open but no file would display and I got the "File error. Couldn't open the file" error message. So I closed Preview and TR and then reopened TR (getting the message in 1. above again). This second time I still cannot get any reports, but Preview quits "unexpectedly" every time. I then checked the folder where the reports are stored and they are in there as pdf's, but will not open from there either. I have a Mac Mini with 10.4.7 and Java 1.5. I do not have any problems with Preview opening other pdf files. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Dennis

Update: I did not have Adobe Reader installed on my Mac (because I have not had a problem with Preview until now), but I just went to the Adobe site and downloaded Adobe Reader 7.0.8. It would not display any of the reports, so I trashed all of them and started over. Same result - with Adobe Reader I get the error message that the file is damaged and could not be repaired.

I've just downloaded the new version and had a quick look - looks good! Thanks for all the work.

I too are getting the message that 1.2.1 is available for download.

One other thing: F3, "Show Help for Current Screen" doesn't seem to work anymore.

Andy.

I have updated the version number on the web site so you should not get any more 1.2.1 messages.

I will have a look at the reports. Preview should be ok for Mac and no need for Adobe reader.

Screen help should work except that I forgot to add it for the new Actions screen. I will check the shortcut key.

I forgot to say that reports work fine for me. OSX 10.4.7 & JDK 1.5.

But, testing this has brought up a question / problem:
When going to the Report -> Projects dialog, the ComboBox is filled with blank descriptions for some of the Projects. In part this is my fault, as when I've created a new Project I sometimes - out of habit - hit the Enter button after writing the description to "save" the change. This of course leaves an extra carriage return at the end of the Project's description. This doesn't affect the JTree displaying the Projects description, but when the ComboBox displays it, it just shows the blank desctiption.

So, is there any reason that the Project's Description field allows more than one line of text? The tree view just ignores carriage returns in anycase...

Hope that made sense.

Andy.

Yes I think it should be one line. I will also remove newlines for the combo.

For dpvanwormer (or anyone else having report problems)

Could you please see if there are any error messages output.

Run the Console.app (in Applications/Utilities) and see if any messages are output when you run the report.

I suspect that there is some error causing the report to not be generated fully and so Preview (or other PDF viewer) can not open it.

I am having the same problem. Cannot print a report and preview quits. On acrobat, I get a message saying the file is corrupted. I can send you my console printout, but its very long. The end of it is this:

===== Display starts at offset 6364090 within file of length 6495162. ====
===== Use File->Reload (Cmd-R) to display more. ====

ok

The first (approx) half of this dauntingly long error message is because I have changed the help files and forgot to update the identifiers in the program.

The second half ...
It looks like you may have mounted the disk image and are running it from there - in which case it can not create a file on the read only disk image. If this is the case copy the app to the Applications folder or Desktop (...) and run from there. Otherwise I will look at this further when I have had some sleep.

Jeremy,

That did it for me. I had copied the app, but I was still running from the disk image. I am getting reports now!

Get some sleep - you've certainly earned it!

Thanks!

Dennis

Jeremy, Ditto for me. I had copied it, but still was running from the image. Well you have a terrific program. I'm going to put it through its paces today while you are getting the above mintioned well deserved rest.
