I read in one of Claire's comments the following:

" You can create new Tab and change the columns displayed, their order, the filtering, etc.."

Just wondering how to create a new tab. I thought I clicked or right-clicked everywhere but I don't see an option on the actions screen to add a new tab to the top.

Thanks,

Sally

Hi,

I saw the same statement in Claire's comment.
Took me a while to figure that one out:

Go to Preferences (I am working on Mac, not sure what it is on Windows) and select Actions Screens.

You will see a list of the available tabs with buttons on the left to add (+) or remove (-) and to change the order.

By the way: I find this is a great feature, because you create exactly the views that suit your way of working...

Have fun
Wim

In Windows, its under Tools...Options Actions Screens
The +/- buttons you speak of are not showing up, but it I hover the mouse to the left of the Views listed, 4 blank buttons do show up while moused over.

Clicking on one of these buttons adds a new blank line under the last view with a ...

Clicking on the ... doesn't seem to do anything further.

Possibly not fully implemented?

Hey, thats cool! Thanks. I clicked on the invisible btn at the top and get the ... as the last row. I can then rename ... to whatever I want. When exiting that screen, nothing appears to happen (the tabs don't appear) but they did when I got out of TR and restarted it.

Thanks to all! very useful option.

Sally

Actually after adding a new action tab, just switch out of that screen, say for example to the overview, and when you switch back it will be there all ready for you to configure.

OS: WinXP SP2
Java: RE 1.6.0

Something peculiar happened this morning when I first opened TR2. I started TR2 like I always do, running it off a USB drive with Java RE 1.6.0 on the host machine. The Overview screen came up like always and then I clicked on the Actions button. Okay, everything is cool up to this point.

Then I go to the Context filter and select 'Multiple.' Nothing happens. I click on the Projects button, it takes a bit longer than normal but it finally switched over. I go back to the Actions screen and now all my tabs are gone!

I thought that was odd so I close down TR2 and restart it. Tabs are still gone.
So I go to the Options screen and to the Actions tabs options and see that the tab titles are still there. Peculiar. I close and restart TR2. Still no tabs.

So I delete all the tabs from the Action tabs options screen and retype them. Go back to the Actions screen and re-do all the filters. Close TR2 and restart. Now only two tabs are working (Actions and ASAP) but the other three (Delegate, Schedule and Done) are not. What I'm seeing is the tab itself but the title is not there, just the three little dots (...). And all the content (meaning action items) do not show up. Even the filter options (the two little icons in the upper left of the Actions pane) are not functioning.

I go back to the Actions tab options and retype the title. Nothing changes.

I figure that something might be wrong with a file somewhere so I remove TR2 and reinstall. After restarting the tabs are still having the same issue as above. So once again I delete all the tabs and recreate them. Closed TR2 and restarted again. Now things seem to be fine but one of the tabs just shows the three dots. Whenever I try to retype the title in the Actions options it doesn't change the title of the tab.

TR2 was working fine the day before and I do not recall doing anything so different in my daily routine to consider it out of the ordinary. I didnt use TR2 again until this morning so the .trx file was not in use between shut down last night and start up again this morning.

Its an odd occurrence so I am not expecting anyone to come up with an exact cause. I just thought it was unusual enough to share my experience.

I have created a small tutorial explaining how to create and use a custom view called today to look at todays hard landscape. As I am too computer illiterate to get this thing posted to the forum with all those screenshots included I sent the complete file to Claire. You may find it in the near future somewhere on the TR homepage. I would include that file into the wiki, but I am as well illiterate to get any new page added to the wiki.

I will volunteer to put your tutorial on the wiki.

Why don't you upload it to http://www.sharebigfile.com/ and post the download link for me, there is no account needed to do that.

Thanks.

Thank you for that. I am a bit short of time at the moment. Busy testing 2.0 delta on Mac.

Purpleflux,

next time I'll scan first for such generous offers before I start doing things myself.
