Hi !

I downloaded TR two or three weeks ago, and had a chance to explore the 1.2.1 version a bit (I've downloaded the new beta just now, and I'll start to use it from now on).

As a GTD-follower I have to say I'm very impressed with the program, and I'm seriously considering using it in my daily routine.

A few (very practical) suggestions:

1. is it possible to make TR remember the column settings (in which order the columns are, column width, sort order, etc.) when you make alterations to the default layout of e.g. DO ASAP, or delegated actions, or scheduled actions screens ? As far as I can see now, the changes are not remembered after you close the program, which requires you to adjust those settings every time if you're not happy about the default settings.

2. same question (remembering the settings after you close), but now for the 'show done' filter on those screens

3. how come cut, copy and paste are not implemented (either from the menu (greyed out), or preferably from right mouseclick context menu ?) After all, this is basic functionality that can save you a lot of time not having to retype things ...

Greetings, and thanks for bringing TR to us ! It really is a great program.

I can't agree strongly enough on this one. I've been using TR for all of a day. It's already feeling like a replacement for any of the other GTD systems I've used (nextaction, tasks, various wikis, outlook hacks, etc).

I'd like to see serialized actions, but understand both why that would be difficult and think that manually converting from inactive to ASAP is a reasonable solution. Tto my way of thinking a project isn't really a project if it has nothing but inactive actions, knocking out an ASAP should just automatically turn the next inactive in project into an ASAP. But I can live with doing this manually.

BUT - a lot of my work has a very standard project process. When I create a client project, I have a dozen tasks that are always the same. All I need is a single template project from which I could copy the 8 items to paste into a new "real" project and I would save a SIGNIFICANT amount of time. While I understand why people want various import/export PDA sync, etc. Copy/Paste gets you 3/4s of the way to an import/export mechanism for anything else that is software based.

The only other thing I'd like to see is a handful of keyboard shortcuts and little usability tweaks to speed data entry in dumping new actions into a project, but so far I'm loving thinking rock. You Ozzies done good!

First, just to let you know that we are trying to include the automatic sequencing of actions (let me know if you agree on that name) into the proper release of v1.2.2 (see under v1.2.2Beta).

The copy, cut and paste from the tree is in our list of future functionality but I have changed its priority to high.

Hello,

thank you for the attention you give to the suggestions on this forum.

I'm glad to hear that automatic sequencing of actions and cut/copy/paste will make it (eventually) into TR.

May I ask a reaction to the first question and second question of my previous post ? (I included them below)

Thanks,

Guzz

Hi

I have done both of these for the new actions screen.

Will probably do the same for the other actions screens very soon.

Jeremy,

When I try the above on the new actions screen, I can see that this is working for the 'show done' filter (its status is remembered when you close the program and then open it again).

If I try the same with the column settings (e.g. changing the column order or the column width, as far as I can see these are NOT remembered after closing the program - or maybe I am doing something wrong ?). After opening the program again and going to the actions screen, the columns show the default layout ...

Greetings,

Guzz

Sorry I meant that I have just done it and it will be in the 1.2.2 release proper (hopefully by end of Sep).

OK.

Thanks for your quick replies, and the readiness to answer to all our questions and suggestions.

TR is developing into a really nice application !

Just checking but this "remember column & pane sizes" feature did not make into the 1.2.2 release right? I'm only asking because column and pane sizes are not being remembered across restarts (for me) and I guess this could either be a follow up to a feature request or a bug report. Thanks.

TR should (as of v1.2.2) restore the application window size as well as column sizes for the Actions screen. The other three screens (Do ASAP, Scheduled and Delegated) have not been done yet.
