The program starts up but I don;t think any of the modules are there, can anyone help a battling wana be TR user?

Did you create a data file? Either click on the Create Data File button on the overview screen or click File->New in the menu.

If that isn't it you can try running TR is administrator (right click on the shortcut to find that).
