When that happens, I just close TR and then open it again. It works well for some hours until the lag appears again.

It should be fixed of course, but not an important bug for me.

It seems to get worse, even after restarting it just keeps happening again.
Even when i am at the end of the notes... I lose some characters, then some are typed again, then lose some again etc...

Very annoying, especially when writing down contact info.
Hope the guy and gal find time to fix it ;~]

It seems to be getting worse and worse.
I am losing characters all of the time, sometimes 1 sometimes 2.
Plus that it jumps to the end of the note box.

It actually looks like it is being typed (very briefly visible) but than a quick Backspace takes it away...

Update: I recently typed "Baars"
At the time I looked up to the screen I saw it being typed.
And right after the "s" it looked like a backspace
and all that was left was a "B"

I've been doing some cleanup and reorganization in my project lists and I'm noticing that something that now reliably will lock up TR for quite some time for me is to move a sub-project with lots of tasks and sub-projects from one project to another. I can see the processor usage spike in task manager (and hear it in the "fan proxy" :-)), and the UI is totally non-responsive for from a minute to several minutes. Hopefully this will help troubleshoot this issue.

Thanks,
Sam

I had the same tonight, as I was re-organising all projects for high-level view and abandoned most topics for a system-change in order to get the 6level-model introduced a bit more. A little testing showed that at least no data or changes were lost, even if I killed the app with kill or xkill. The hookup (and thus one cpu is "working" on 100%) seems to be more an issue od a deadlock or so. It just looks like the CPU has a lot of work, but in reality, even the moving of big, fat projects or the reassignment of topics to another topic are done really quickly.

I love this application, but have made a similar observation. After rearranging projects and activites text input becomes very sluggish, sometimes freezing TR for a long time.

Hoping for a bug fix soon

We have released some modules yesterday as member only module. We have change something to address this problem. Let us know if you see the difference. See http://www.trgtd.com.au/index.php?optio ... &Itemid=79 for the description.

Did you download the latest member only modules? How can I reproduce the problem?

Good to hear you're addressing the bug. Unfortunately I was assuming this was open source software. I'm not a member and so have not tested the new modules.

Cheers

It is still open source but only Jeremy and I are working on it so we need financial support.

I understand, and after giving it some thought I came to the obvious conclusion that TR is well worth a few bucks. :D

Now if only I can get Paypal to work... But I won't hijack this thread with that issue.

Some thoughts might help to solve this bug:

1. This bug more often become apparent when it's too little free memory in system (free means (FullRam minus UsedByPrograms minus UsedByCache))

2. This bug does NOT appears it "Edit Thought"'s big edit field at all.

I'm not sure I understand. First, I don't see an increase in memory usage in the Memory toolbar. Second, I bumped up the memory allocation to 256M without noticing any change.
My box has four Gb RAM and the problem occurs even under very low general load on the machine.

However, I do see a slight improvement after installing the latest member-only modules. Editing action descriptions is still a bit sluggish, but a little snappier than before. I kinda looks like TR is busy updating related projects etc pretty much after every keystroke. Maybe a better idea to wait until the user leaves the text field, and/or after a time interval of, say a second or two?

Hi Baleks, this problem is also in another thread, it might be situated better there since the hang ups are not the big issue here. The jumping and disappearing characters is.
