Not sure if anyone else see's this.

TR seems to take *ages* to populate the window with a list of files. There is no 'egg timer' icon displayed whilst it is doing this, so it looks like the app has hung, espcially as you can't seem to click Cancel etc.

I have noticed this on earlier releases too, so it isn't just a RC issue.

We have our 'My Documents' space directed to filespace on our AD server. In the Notes field you can add a file URL by clicking the appropriate button. This opens a windows explorer window for My Documents.

Windows Explorer by itself opens the network share OK. It is true that our systems seem a little slower than usual today but I have noticed this behaviour before with TR.

It is even slow accessing a folder on the hard disc ... which I can do if I wait long enough for the initial window to be populated.

So I think opening folders via the network may be worse than the hard disc but both are very slow.

Java's file chooser has always been a little slow. On my stand-alone Windows system, it takes about two seconds to open the dialogue and one second to move to another folder.

It's not so bad today. 7-11 seconds or so to bring up the fully populated Insert File URL window. Maybe we had network issues the other day.

Have a word with your system administrators, it is taking too long in my opinion. Your statement that the system seems faster makes me think that other applications are also slow. If Google can serve millions of pages to millions of users, there is no need for you to be waiting more than a few seconds for files on the local system. Of course it may involve spending some money.
