Claire/Jeremy

Last night I was having a bit of a play and ended up in the situation where my Actions screen was only showing the bottom sections (Projects/Single Actions etc).

I tried double-clicking on those tab headings to return them to return them to their default state but it didn't work. As I was trying a variety of things with key combos etc, I am not sure what caused it.

I recovered by deleting the reviewActions.xml and getting my data file from backup.

What I didn't then think of trying was the obvious - whether I had double-clicked on the tab which maximizes the lower pane ... and maybe it isn't allowing me to go back to the default. I can't try again now as, unfortunately, I am at work and on a PC!

Sorry, not explaining that very well ... hope it makes sense.

Lee

I think I have found the cause of that problem. Did you select multiple topics in the topic filter of either the Someday/Maybe or Reference screens?

If you delete the ReviewActions.xml and run TR again it will get your settings from the old TR version or create default screens (tabs). Probably better to make a backup of the ReviewActions.xml file after any changes.

Jeremy

I do remember selecting Multiple somewhere ... it thought it was in the Actions screen but, to be honest, I am not sure now and could have been anywhere.

Cheers
Lee

That was probably it then. There is a problem with saving the multiple topic selection on those screens which causes an error and the review actions data does not get saved (so the screens disappear next time TR is run).

I have fixed this problem and will put up another Mac RC version along with the Windows and Linux versions - probably later tonight.

This happened to me on the PC too earlier and I didn't touch the Multiple selections (I don't think). Now I can't recreate the problem. I removed the ReviewAction.xml and the problem has gone away for now ...

The cause of the problem with missing action screens is that ReviewActions.xml is not ut8-encoded. So when it's contains non-latin characters (i.e. in filter values) — it cannot be read correctly. If you specify correct encoding of ReviewActions.xml file ("windows-1251" in my case) — TR read it ok.

Except, I don't have any non-Latin chars in my filters ... as far as I am aware.

For the Mac, we need to put a new version tomorrow which will fix multiple selection bugs.

The same thing happened to me. I was changing an existing action to a scheduled action. Right after that, I noticed that the upper part of the Actions screen was gone. Tried to get it back for a while, but could not. Checked the Options for setting up Action tabs, and there were none there! I had customized them about a half hour before. Then I looked at ReviewAction.html and it only had two lines left in it. All the xml that defined the tabs was gone. Using windows 2000.

Did you re-process your action to make it scheduled (there is a bug in the reprocess)? If not, how did you change it?

Sergey was right. There is a problem with reading other characters like @. So Sapphie, do you use context like @calls and you might have saved that filter value?

I was reprocessing actions when it happened. I just tried to recreate the problem but can't - but I have not customized all the tabs again.

No, I don't have @ or any other similar character in my filters, topics, contexts etc.

Let us know if you loose your tabs again.

By the way, jddaley, Reprocessing can lock the application (bug).

I can't seem to duplicate the problem, but it definately happened once. I have also noticed locking up on reprocessing bug.
