I am running vista, latest Java (just downloaded and installed for the first time for Thinking Rock) and the TR 2.0 Epsilon.

When I launch it, I get the "stopped working" dialog. I've tried many things, I've searched through the forums and tried the jdkhome trick as well as the .thinkingrock trick. Oddly enough, I have a laptop with vista and had no problems on it but on my desktop I do. So, I copied the .thinkingrock from it and no luck. Tried reinstalling both Java and Thinking rock many times, tried downgrading to other Thinking Rock 2.0 versions with no luck.

I then downloaded the .zip file. The .exe's contained therein also suffer the same fate, however, I am a developer and have GnuWin32 tools installed for resources such as bash.

So, I fired up bash, tweaked the bin/thinkingrock script a bit to hardcode the jdkhome and userdata variables to the correct locations and that script causes thinkingrock to run just fine, however it's cumbersome.

After running thinkingrock from the script, the .exe's still do not work, same problem as above.

I can live with how I am launching it now, but would really like for the .exe's to work. Does anyone have any clues? I am unable to find a log file of any sort.

Hi Jeremy,

in the ../thinkingrock/bin folder is a thinkingrock_w.exe. Start this and ThinkingRock starts in a Dos-Shell where you can find log messages.

Cobra,

No log is displayed. Here is a copy/paste of my session...

Code:
C:\Users\Jeremy\Desktop\tr-2.0.epsilon\bin>thinkingrock_w.exe

C:\Users\Jeremy\Desktop\tr-2.0.epsilon\bin>

The instant you hit enter on the thinkingrock_w.exe line, the dialog box appears, and I mean the instant.

I will be looking at the TR startup soon and will look into this problem before we release TR 2.0 final (before Christmas if we can).
