Hi,

I'm really disappointed in your approach to users of your software. Potential new users are now prevented from posting in the general forums so can't ask questions which when answered may ultimately lead then to purchase the product. The members only forums have limited access so potential new users can't even read them to see what issues and concerns people have with the product and therefore use those as a basis to decide if they will commit to buying it.

Seriously do you think this is a good way to support your product and entice new users in ? Your policy of secrecy and neglect of potential new purchasers (demo users wishing to upgrade eventually ) is not going to help you in the long run. Have you actually thought about this? There are numerous other GTD products out there where all the functionality (although maybe limited to 100 projects etc) and issues under discussion in the user community is available to read from the start so a true evaluation of the product can be performed.

To any new visitor to your website it looks like this is a dead project and this is only supported by the total lack of responsiveness to queries via e-mail or inability to raise issues in the forum and get an answer.

I've been an on and off user of the demo version for a few years as it doesn't offer all the functionality i need, yet neither do other products so I keep coming back to TR to see if it has improved..it's alomst at the point where I'm prepared to pay for the full version but a must have piece of functionality is missing (see my previous post on linking to Evernote notes) and crucially it appears to be a product where customer (and potential customer) support is non existent.

Thinking Rock what are you doing ?

Looking at recent posts here and the time lapse in answers I don't expect a reply till 2013 but you really need to think about your future if this is supposed to be a serious business on your side. If not and it's a "hobby" you can't dedicate the time to anymore why not sell to someone prepared to give it a go or make it completelty open and free for the community to take it forward.

Thanks
Ian

P.S. Your website needs a real overhaul it looks very dated and confusing now

Seriously? No reply to try and help out a potential customer ?

Roughly TWO months and counting without anything.

Sigh

I'm a potential customer here with concerns that need answering

Support is provided to users who purchased the license in priority.

I always tried to answer emails too (from members or not). I am sorry if I missed yours.

The reason this forum is closed for new registration is because of spams. Most of the new registrations were for the purpose of spams. It was a waste of time deleting users and their posts all the time. If you have a suggestion on how to solve that problem, let us know.

ThinkingRock is not dead. We are working on a team version. Single user version will get new functionality from time to time.

Let me know how often Omnifocus provides support and new functionality.

Claire,
I don't think you read my original post propelry. The point I was trying to make is that for potential purchasers of Thinking Rock there is no indication of whether this product is active as I assume all the active discussions are hiddeen in the members only forum. I understand the issue with Spam, I'm pretty sure other Forums manage to handle it though. You need to make the members forum read only to none members so they can at least find out what issues are being dicussed with TR so they can make informed decisions on whether to purchase the product or not. If you want to encourage more people to purchase the full product then you need to indicate more openly that the product is in development still, still supported and allow potential purchasers to make informed decisions.

I really want to be able to decide wether to commit and purchase the full product but I can't at the moment as I can't find out what issues, if any , other purchasers are discussing.

Ian

Users can now decide to buy or not is by trialing the software. If you are missing a crucial functionality, you can send an email and we will let you know if it is coming soon or not.

The forum for members only is not a good way to judge a product as users report problems and suggestions, rarely praises.

The main functionality we are working on now is a team version and a calendar view for the single user version, which is highly demanded.

Support is done through:
- emails (members or not);
- documentation on our website in English, French and Spanish;
- documentation and support in German through the following website http://www.thinkingrock.de/;
- a manual in English;
- demos in English on our website;
- help in English provided on all screens within TR;
- iPhone support, sometimes using Skype;
- Android support.

The manual will be also translated into French soon and I will also open a forum for French users.
