From Epsilon to 2.0.1

Postby cray » Mon Jun 02, 2008 6:35 am

I've been using TR Epsilon for 3 months (great, just great), and i was waiting for the final version to upgrade.
What should I do in order to keep my datas and tabs configuration safe?

- Backup data file

- Backup configuration file (how to?)

- Uninstall TR Epsilon

- Install TR 2.0.1

Questions :
1. I've read somewhere that the configuration datas are stored another way since 2.0 RC1. Is there some solution to keep the actions screen (and others) exactly the same when i move from Epsilon to 2.0.1?
2. Didn't I forget any important step?

Thanks for that professional work, it's a great tool.

Make a backup copy of your data file.
Then you can uninstall the epsilon version and install 2.0.1
Your review actions screens (tabs) should be read in by the new version and saved in a ReviewActions.xml file in the same directory as your data file.
You don't need to backup your tabs configuration.

Smooth transition from Epsilon to 2.0.1 : everything seems to be ok.

That link : ThinkingRock 2.0.1 Release Notes may be useful for the people who wants to discover 2.O.1 new features.
(Nice logo design!).

My favorites improvements (first impression) :
# ordering of the criteria columns as per definition and not alphabetically anymore;
# filtering: exclusion of null available for dates and criteria;
# all settings, except the bars position, saved in a separate file called ReviewAction.xml. The file can be shared between different platforms. The file will be saved under the same folder as the data file. We recommend that you do a backup of that file in a different directory.
# new options for recurrency: every Monday, Tuesday and Friday; every 2, 15 and 27 of each month; every 2nd Monday of the month; every 6th March, 6th June and 6th October.

A french fast-growing artist community is using your software, and we try to spread the word about it.
