Hi,
I have a question not so much about TR but about GTD (I´m a greenhorn).

Where do I put the following and in what form:
I just called my parents. I will visit them some time this week so that my mother can fix my curtains, and I will lend her a book. It will be Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, but we did not decide on day and time yet because I will start teaching at a new school this week and don´t have an complete overview yet about the conferences etc. coming up normally in the first week of term.

Now I would like to put the whole thing somewhere in TR. I started a new project "visit parents", and the next step would be: "call them to fix date". But this action is either ASAP (I cannot do it yet) nor can I schedule it for a specific date (I don´t know yet when I will be able to make the decision). Secondly, I would like to put somewhere: "Don´t forget to take the curtains and the book with you when you go to your parents", but where do I put this? Sorry, probably just a "newbie"-question, but I would greatly appreciate your comments.

Best regards
Miriam

Hi Miriam

My suggestion is that you have a project with description of say "Visit Parents" and Purpose "Get curtains fixed and lend book".

I guess that the first Action is to find out what school committments you have - make it Do ASAP. The second action is to arrange visit - make it Inactive untill the first action is done. The final Action is to visit your parents - make it Inactive untill the second action is done, then you can make it Scheduled for the arranged date. You could put " ... (don't forget curtains and book)" in the final action description or notes.

Every project should have an Active (i.e. Not Inactive) action and in TR if a project does not have an active action it's icon appears in red. This will help you to not forget to activate the dependant actions.

There are probably other ways of handling it but this is a good example of how to handle dependant actions in TR.
